It is now time to get out in the woods and pick some mushrooms. During the few weeks that cover the mushroom season; there are probably more people in the woods on a given day; than any other time of year, including hunting season. Over the weekend, every parking area bordering the public land, had at least one vehicle there.
The word is that this season is a good one for the mushrooms; and from what I have personally picked; and from speaking with other mushroom hunters, believe that is true.
I normally take pictures when out, as can be seen from previous posts; but have a problem with the camera. Following are a few pictures of mushrooms from past years.
If you have not gotten out yet, you need to do so soon; before the season ends.
From 2008....
From May 5, 2007.......(an important date to one of the blog readers.....)
Welcome to my online diary/journal of my time spent in the woods, prairie, and along the rivers, etc. My hope is that through my pictures, descriptive text, and sometimes disjointed rambling; that I can pass along to you the great wonders of our area as I see them. Please feel free to jump right in and correct me if you feel I have made an error. We can all learn together! Feedback is always welcome Thanks so much for stopping by!
Influences
Recognition should be given to all those who have gone before; family members, friends, and others that may have influenced me in their own quiet way.
Special recogition should go to my father Kenneth (Kenny to all who knew him) and my grandfathers Selby and Chester (Jake), both born in the 1890s. All of these gentlemen influenced me in their own way...with time fishing, hunting, trapping, or just time spent togeher.....
